Teaching philosophy: When thinking about my philosophy of teacher, I am drawn to three quotes that I heard and/or read during my first few years of teaching. (1) "The garments we weave today are the wardrobe of our future." (2) "Filled with uncertainty, I took the job anyway and in a matter of days I had a classroom of my own. I've been trying to become a teacher ever since." (3) "Sometimes that's what being a teacher is: Knowing when to crumple up your plans, get out of the way, and give the kids room to learn." These three quotes illustrate three important aspects of my teaching: The importance and purpose of my job: to educate the future of our country. The importance of being a lifelong learner, which is something I strive for as well as something that I hope to instill in my children. Finally, the importance of thinking outside of the box.
