school’s first annual fundraiser, “night at the museum”, exceeds its goal
Friends and neighbors came together for a great party and a great cause at The Museum School’s first annual auction fundraiser, held at Bart Webb Studios on November 14. Guests enjoyed appetizers and dessert while browsing through a huge selection of silent auction items, from gift certificates to original artwork. Enjoying the camaraderie of the evening, auction-goers sipped on "The Smithsonian"—a signature drink created just for the night. Many also pitched in to help paint an aquarium-life mural that will hang in the school.

Avondale’s very own entertainer/actor, Dean Crownover, served as the master of ceremonies and auctioneer for the live auction. Top-drawing items included a cowboy hat worn by Sugarland’s Kristian Bush, an autographed electric guitar from Aerosmith, sun-and-surf vacations to the Gulf Coast, a romantic getaway at a Smokey Mountain chalet, and a plane ride over Atlanta.

The event’s organization was led by Aspen Kron and her silent auction committee. Their original goal for the event was to raise $10,000. They easily surpassed that target, raising more than $24,000 through auction bids and ticket sales.

The support the auction received from local businesses and residents was heartwarming. We owe the event’s success to a tremendous amount of work by a dedicated group of people and to the generosity of an entire community.
